Locals call this wild raspberry ""Sampinit"" ""Sapinit"" ""Kinubot"" or ""Dagamit"". It is a climbing, prickly shrub that grows to a height of 2 to 3 meters. The leaves are 3- to 5-lobed, broadly ovate, deeply cordate at the base and velvety while the branches are covered with wooly hairs. One will see it bearing fruits during summer and is available only in a short period of time. The berries are bright red, succulent and tangy. It is about 1 centimeter in diameter with numerous carpels. The flowers are in small clusters and borne in racemes at the axils of leaves and at the ends of the branches.
